Committees & Volunteering

WPO parents and guardians are needed to provide extra help to kindergartners and teachers the first few days of school. You do not have to have a kindergartner to be able to volunteer. 

Room Party initial sign-up begins in August. There are 3 class parties per year that parents/volunteers may participate in. WPO Room Party Chair creates the SignUpGenius for the parties and ensures there are enough volunteers in each class.

West's largest fundraiser. Past fundraisers have been Boosterthon Reach for the Stars, Go for Gold, Apex Fun Run, and Orange Ruler Fun Run. Students ask friends and family for donations to help raise money for West. Committee chairs work with the Booster fundraising company to organize the event, distribute prizes, and facilitate communications with staff & families.

Themed 4-week reading program for West students. Typically includes Kane County Cougars tickets, an ice cream coupon (Julie Ann's), and a pizza coupon (Georgio's) after completion. Volunteers needed for bulletin boards, collection buckets/bags, weekly reading slip counting, and final prize preparation.

The lead organizer will help assemble the Fun Fair committee to ensure subcommittees are covered. This is a team committee and requires MANY volunteers to run this event successfully.

Typically, a picnic-style celebration for 5th-grade students takes place at Lippold. The committee will plan activities for students. A lead organizer is needed to help assemble the committee, coordinate planning, and start communications. 

Teachers can submit work requests for WPO volunteers to complete during the week. This includes laminating, cutting, copying, book binding, die cutting, pencil sharpening, and other prep work for student assignments and class bulletin boards.
